SPRING 2022 COLLECTION | Il Gufo

What if educating about the environment started over with children? Little ones, who are exceptionally sensitive to their surroundings and have boundless imagination, are ready to pave the way towards a society in which the natural world and the city are no longer polar opposites.

Thanks to high-tech modern solutions, nature is returning to cities and urban network systems can create green spaces, to realise the vision of a dream farm where children can grow up in liberty.

This is the inspiration behind Il Gufo Spring 2022 Collection: a journey that takes us from the city environment as we know it today to the "Eco-Farm" – a space in which nature and imagination thrive without limits.

The colours of the earth, its fields, gardens, flora, fauna, fruit and vegetables abound here, and the materials used are natural and fresh.

Springtime in the city is free and liberating: for her, a short trench coat in beige cotton drill with drawstring waist paired with a matching bucket's hat. The classic, long-sleeved shirt embellished with ink-blue stripes has a wide collar with ruffly edging. The cotton seersucker trousers with blue check motif are roomy and comfortable.

For him, a blazer in seersucker-effect technical fabric with blue and beige stripes and classic lapels, worn over a blue poplin shirt with mandarin collar and a white cotton t-shirt with blue edging. The look is complete with cargo-style bermuda shorts in heavyweight beige jersey.

Off to the countryside at last! A long, hooded windproof jacket in mimosa yellow nylon reveals a sleeveless cotton jersey top covered in blue, green and yellow tulle frills. The technical, teal Sensitive® Fabrics trousers have a peplum at the front and back. The mimosa yellow bucket's hat in cotton gabardine provides protection from the sun.

On the eco-farm, clothes become lighter and colours more earthy. For her, a khaki green linen blouse with round collar and front pocket is paired with trousers in the same colour and fabric. A natural raffia hat gives the look that "country" finishing touch.

Natural materials and shades persist: for him, carrot-fit trousers in white and khaki check linen, a white cotton T-shirt and a green shacket in heavyweight jersey fabric. For her, a sleeveless cotton top in crochet-effect fabric lined with contrasting yellow cotton and mimosa yellow linen bermuda shorts for that bright touch.

Shades of sky blue and aqua inspire a look enamoured with the gypsy world: for her, a white cotton poplin shirt with folk-style embroidered edging in contrasting shades of blue and light blue on the armholes and collar, and cotton gabardine shorts with a special teal and light blue tie-dye print.

Taking nature with you is an embroidery affair! For her, a cotton jersey t-shirt with a crown of hand-applied crochet flowers, worn underneath an orange cotton gabardine dungaree dress.

The eco-farm is a place where close friendships form. The girls' clothing is brimming with the colours of flowers and vegetable gardens. Pieces include a trapeze dress in white stretch poplin with tulip appliqués in shades of fuchsia, lilac and green, a sleeveless playsuit with mimosa yellow linen shorts and ruffles, a boxy round-neck sweatshirt in mimosa yellow cotton, bermuda shorts in linen with a white and antique pink check pattern, and a trapeze dress in stretch poplin with large ruffles in lilac, mimosa yellow and fuchsia and gathering.

The eco-farm means more than just getting in touch with nature and its marvels; it's about carefully selected raw materials and people too. Here, organic cotton features more prominently than ever before, in t-shirts and knitwear, and is often dyed with non-toxic and biodegradable colouring agents.

Sustainability and promoting honest, traditional workmanship are key. Thanks to a collaborative partnership established with "Artetica" - an all-female network of expert embroiderers operating in Salento - a capsule collection of fine garments and small, sophisticated accessories has been created. Artetica encapsulates and represents some of Italy's oldest traditional handicrafts, including hand-worked embroidery, needlework, bobbin lace and crochet.

The business took off in spring 2016 thanks to the drive of a visionary entrepreneur who loves her country and her people. In a short time, she managed to assemble a group of women full of valuable knowledge and created an enterprise whose aim is to grow enough to ensure the financial independence of her collaborators and, therefore, sustainable social development.

The most noteworthy pieces include a sleeveless empire-cut dress with a crocheted organic cotton bodice and a white linen skirt, a crocheted organic cotton cardigan, and a two-piece swimming costume in organic cotton with crochet detailing and small flowers in shades of blue and fuchsia.
